Sunny days for Subaru NSW State Interschools Championships
PUBLISHED WED 30 AUG 2017
The Subaru NSW State Interschools Championships were held at Perisher last week with five out of six competition days held under blue sunny skies with next to no wind.
The great snow conditions made for fun and fast courses for the school students.
Having qualified from the Regional Championships, there were 3,391 entries from 1,574 athletes from 183 schools over 9 snow sport disciplines.
Perisher Race Department is to be commended for their courses, having set 32 over the week. On these courses were just over 300 school volunteers acting as course officials. NSW Cross Country hosted the Cross Country events and put together a fun and challenging course for the competitors.
This year was the first year Skier X for Division 6 (kindergarten to year six) was staged and it is quickly becoming a popular event. The newest Interschools disciplines, ski & snowboard Slopestyle, open to secondary school students only, received 170 entries.
