Alpine National Championships decided at Mt Hotham
Record snowfall at Mt Hotham affected the first scheduled day of events for the FIS National Alpine Championships, requiring the weather day to be used while the events team did an amazing job working tirelessly to prepare the mountain for racing on the following days.
Tuesday saw the first of the Giant Slalom races in which a tough course saw national team athlete and Hotham local Harry Laidlaw return from a training block in NZ to win with a time of 1.58.56.
National team and Thredbo race club athlete Madison Hoffman dominated the women’s field demonstrating her skill set and consistency in the challenging conditions to win the GS.
